The Leuchars Chess Set is named after William Leuchars, the retailer who sold the first John Jaques sets in 1849 from his upmarket shop in Piccadilly. Leuchars Knights are typified by a plain version of the Cook Knight.
This design was very rare and sold in few sets retailed by Leuchars. Sets of this design were retailed in ivory combinations as well as boxwood. Supplied with a beautiful solid wood box.
